My lovely wife, God bless her, was doing my laundry as a good wife should but she got lazy and didn’t check my shirt pocket for headphones. I know I know, an obvious thing to check and something any housekeeper would know, but my wife is still learning. So after going for a spin in the washer and a tumble in the dryer I was concerned that my headphones might not function as intended. So I smacked Mel around a little bit for her insolence and then tried out the headphones. Surprisingly they work great! They are a little sudsy but besides the occasional soap bubble in my ear they are perfect! Lucky for my wife.

The Money Magazine article was picked up by AOL and they put us on the front page. They rotate 5 stories on the front page, I think we are 2 of 5. So if you go there just wait a few seconds for us to appear.

Well I started out by just wanting to throw up a quick video of my son singing. Then I found a cute video of my daughter. Then I found another, and another…and then well I ended up making a full video of some of the cuter moments of our family’s life over the last year. I hope you enjoy.

Zune iPhone caseThis is pretty sweet. A recent report came out that 1 in 3 americans want an iPhone. We can safely assume a fair percentage of that population are punk thieves. We could be facing an iPhone stealing epidemic the likes of which this world has never seen. What’s the solution? Put the iPhone in a device you can’t give away, the Zune.

John Mark McMillan leads INTENSE worship at the Call July 9, 2007

I was watching the Call on Saturday and it was extremely powerful as usual. It was an all day event so I had it on while I was cleaning the house in preparation for UFC 73. A lot of great worship leaders were up there throughout the day from Kevin Prosch to Eddie James. Then as I was getting the BBQ ready I heard some worship being played I’d never heard. Not just the song but the sound. Never heard anything quite like it during a worship set. So I sat down and watched this band plays these amazingly powerful songs in a amazingly different type of set than I’m used to hearing or playing.

Finally the tv showed that is was John Mark McMillan. That didn’t ring any bells at all and I consider myself reasonably in tune with the cutting edge worship. The style was reminiscent of Wilco and Ryan Adams meets My Morning Jacket. Lyrically John was hitting it right on the head. They were brutally honest, vivid, emotional, spoke truth and without any of the trendy youth pretentious angst. I believe John is almost 30 so not that I would expect it from him, but it’s refreshing none the less.

One of the most moving songs was a song called “How He Loves Us” which was written the day after his best friend passed. He told a story of how he was in a prayer meeting with his best friend Steven who was the youth pastor. And his friend said, “God I’d give my life to see the youth of this nation shaken”. That night Steven died in a car accident. Here’s an excerpt from that song:

“So we are his portion and He is our prize

drawn to redemption by the grace in his eyes

if grace is an ocean we’re all sinking.

So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss

and my heart turns violently inside of my chest

I don’t have the time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way

that He loves us, woa How he loves us, woa how He loves, woa how He loves us”

The end of the song is a verse that John can’t make it through without breaking down. It was very Kevin Prosch esque to leave that in the final cut. I applaud the choice. Do yourself a favor and go pickup his album “The Song Inside the Sounds of Breaking Down“.

Freddy Adu’s move in the corner for the winning goal is just sick.

Freddy Adu looked unstoppable. But he’s never had a problem ripping apart people his own age or a few years older. But he does have issues looking that dominant against grown men. But never the less, he looked great and scored 3 amazing goals. Check it out:

After more than 2 years waiting, I finally got the iPhone July 2, 2007

I originally started waiting and saving money for a “true” video ipod over 2 years ago. I knew apple was working on one and I refused to buy a video ipod that wasn’t touchscreen. Then last year apple announced that the “true” video ipod was indeed the iPhone. So now I was saving for the iPhone. Fast forward to Friday night at 11pm, I dump a load of apple gift cards on the counter and get the iPhone for free.

Let me tell you, believe the hype. This thing is the most amazing device I’ve owned. The attention to detail is amazing. I’ll give my full review sometime soon. But for now just know that I am extremely happy to have one. Thank you Apple for blessing my life with this. And thank you family and friends for all your apple gift cards.
